Providing opportunities for professional growth through education is a critical part of the Houston Chapter of IFMA. The mission of the Professional Development Committee is to:
1. Assist facility managers in developing strategies to manage human, facility and real estate resources; and
2. Provide up to date information and education on cutting edge technologies, systems, and processes that improve the efficiency of facility operations.
Some programs include:
* Professional Development Seminars - Quarterly 2-4 hour seminars on relevant topics such as Finance for FM's, Strategic Facility Planning, Workplace Trends, Project Management, Disaster Planning and Building Codes.
* CFM Exam Study Groups - Promote value of becoming a Certified Facility Manager and provide support through Study Groups or one on one mentoring.
* Facility Management College Degree Program - Promote, advise, and assist with development of Bachelors and Masters Degree program at Texas A & M University through membership in the Facility Management Industry Advisory Council.
* Chapter Meeting Programs - Develop and implement educational programs for Houston Chapter monthly meetings 3-4 times per year.
* PM Pointers - Monthly newsletter articles on facility planning and project management.
* FM Resources - Research and publish FM website resources.
