The Community Relations Committee strives to keep Houston Chapter members involved in community outreach events. These events range from an annual Easter Egg Hunt to the Back-to-School Extravaganza, where we provide needy children with school supplies, book bags, and even shoes for the upcoming school year. Last year we found a sponsor for new jackets! Funds for these children's events are raised through raffles and silent auctions and are distributed to the Salvation Army Family Residence Center. Each year, the Houston Chapter has also donated a portion of the proceeds from our annual Sponsorship Drive. The generosity of our members and associate companies have donated over $60,000 dollars to the Salvation Army Family Assistance Center. Come make difference in a Child's life and give them confidence to start off a new school year proud of themselves!
Other Community Outreach Programs include the collection of hundreds of new teddy bears for the Houston Police Department's Hug a Bear program.
This year, the Chapter will also be involved in a clothing drive benefiting the Salvation Army Family Residence Center, the Harbor Light Center, and Dress for Success.
Our Committee continues to look for opportunities to help and assist the City of Houston and surrounding communities. Contact us if you have a way to 'give back' to our community!
